File Records in File Layout

A File Layout is made of one or more Segments or File Records. How would you uniquely identify different segments / file records in the file layout?

In a File Layout, segments / file records can uniquely be identified with the File Record ID. This is a number that each segment starts with.

For example, this is a sample file and here 00, 10 and 11 are File Record IDs.

00 4 100.50 31/10/2011
10 TEST 100.50
11 3456 37.00
11 7654 63.50
