Synchronous vs Asynchronous Messaging

Integration Broker supports two kind of messaging. They are Synchronous and Asynchronous messaging. Can you detail the difference between these and highlight some cases where each can be used?

    synchronous messaging is when messages are able to flow in both directions, to and from, where as asynchronous messages are those messages that can only flow in one direction.

    Synchronous Message means that, it is a two way communication.

    i.e. Sender sends a message to receiver and receiver receives this message and gives reply to the sender. Sender will not send another message until get reply from receiver.

    Asynchronous Message means that, it is a one way communication.
    i.e. Will not wait for reply.
