PeopleCode is an object-oriented proprietary language used to express business logic for PeopleSoft applications. Though PeopleCode resembles programming languages, some aspects of the PeopleCode language are specifically related to the PeopleTools environment.
PeopleCode is a 4th Generation Language, is case-insensitive and has close similarity with other object oriented programming languages like Java. It also allows seamless interaction with the database unlike most other languages that requires a connection to be setup each time the database is accessed.
Application Designer is the PeopleTool which helps you to create / modify different PeopleSoft objects and write PeopleCode. PeopleCode can be written in a multitude of different events.
PeopleCode had underwent a major change with PeopleTools 8.0. Prior to 8.0 PeopleCode was a procedural language.
